During the week between Christmas and New Years, momma packed up the car and took me and Luke up to Aspen for a fun filled week. Highlights of the week included a nightly performance (starring myself, with Luke and Ryder as my co-horts), hanging out in downtown Aspen, and my first ever experience going to ski school! I LOVED ski school and have been begging to go back.

Unfortunately, we had another "first" on this trip: Luke's first trip to the ER. It was just for an ear infection and high fever, but the nearest Urgent Care was almost 45 minutes away so we just ran down the road to Aspen Valley Hospital instead. Aunt Lisa is an ER nurse there so we were treated like royalty...and this little guy was a real champ :)

Christmas 2012!

We had a great Christmas this year!! I was SO into Santa and everything Christmas-related :) Santa gave me the three things I asked for (a charm bracelet, a Jasmine costume, and a KooKoo bird).

We celebrated with mommy's side of the family with a great Christmas Eve celebration in Boulder....

And then spent Christmas Day at Nana and Papa's house with daddy's side of the family.

Christmas Recital

With my dance recital jitters now behind me, I was all ready to go for my Christmas performance at school this year. My first year's recital was a disaster...last year was much better...and this year, I would have to say I was the star of my class. I was dead center, ALL about the singing and hand movements, and enjoyed every second of applause from the very full room of parents.

I've been in ballet classes all fall and recently had my first ballet recital. I was a little bit nervous at the start, but soon warmed up and enjoyed the performance. By the time we left, I was already begging for when the next recital is!

Disney Day 5: Animal Kingdom

We had a great time on our last day at Disney, visiting the Animal Kingdom. Highlights included the safari, Lion King show, Tree of Life, petting a snake, and tons of walking. This was our longest day at a park and I did AMAZINGLY. No meltdowns? On the last day of the trip? Success!

We left snowy Colorado and arrived in sunny Florida and quickly made our way to our hotel. We stayed at the Animal Kingdom lodge and it was SOOO cool! Luke - how has it been 15 months?

Luke my little doll... you are 15 months old! My how time has flown!

You are still a peanut...tall and skinny...but you are busy busy busy busy! There is never a dull moment with you! Your favorite thing in the world is to chase me around and copy everything I do. You have started playing on your own a bit (your favorite games are putting blocks in and out of containers, and playing in the tupperware drawer, both things can keep you occupied for about 20 minutes!)...but you are still too busy to sit and watch TV. You LOVE to dance to music, and we do alot of that around our house since its my favorite hobby too!

You have always been a crazy babbling little boy, always talking even though none of us understand what you are saying. But in the last two weeks you have started saying a LOT of words, and repeating things that we ask you to say. Heard from your mouth:

You can also tell us that a duck says Quack and a cow says Moo. When Nana says "oom pa pa" to you, you start to rub your belly because you know what's coming. When momma asks how big you are, you raise your hands up high "so big!"

Daddy likes that you can run now (especially to him after work) and that you are starting to wrestle a bit with him.

You are a lovely little boy...generally good natured...and happy. You LOVE your mama and your sissy...adore your daddy, and are very very affectionate with your grandparents and aunts/uncles. You are a sweetheart and I love you to the moon and back, brother.

Surprise Surprise!

Sorry its been so long since I've posted.... I'm a busy 4 1/2 year old and sometimes fall behind on my blogging duties amidst all the fun I'm having.

So my big news from last month was that mommy and daddy surprised me with a trip to Disney World! They woke me up very early one morning when it was still dark outside, stuck me in the car, drove to the airport and didn't tell me where we were going until I got on the airplane! Nice, huh?

Of course the most excited part of my reaction, in which I threw my hands up over my head and said "I can't BELIEVE it! THANK YOU, daddy!" occurred about 1.5 seconds after mommy turned off the video camera, but nevertheless, its still a fun moment I wanted to share!

A couple weeks ago daddy had some time off of work and we spent a family day together at the zoo. We had a blast, enjoying the elephants, monkeys, gorillas and sea lions the most. A carousel ride was a must, and I showed Luke the ropes on all things zoo-related. It was a day to remember!

Meet Charlie, my newest bff and bed-mate. He was born at Costco and I begged daddy mercilessly for it. He was strong in the moment (I think momma made him say no) but went back a few days later and brought him home. He sleeps with me at night, protects me, and is my reading buddy. One Year Update (One Month Late)

Oh Luke, you keep me and momma so busy that its been hard to find time to write you a letter about your first birthday. Here goes...

Luke, this past year flew by! It seems like just yesterday I was meeting you in the hospital for the first time. You have been so much fun and we are the BEST BEST of friends already...I often thank God in my nightly prayers that God gave me a brother like you.

You are a busy, busy boy. You started walking right before you turned one, but became an official, 100%-of-the-time walker about 2 weeks after your first birthday. You love to climb stairs, chase after me around and around the ottoman (and house in general), and you love to go anywhere dangerous that makes momma scared. You don't like it when she holds you back from certain death, but a mom's gotta do what a mom's gotta do.

You are long and lean, just like I was. 9% for weight and 75% for height. You are a bit of a picky eater (you don't like fresh fruits or veggies, to our dismay!) but you ARE a meat & potatoes kind of kid...you eat what we do for dinner and as long as it involves meat, you gobble it down. Other favorites of yours are yogurt of any flavor, applesauce, cheese sticks, crackers, chili, turkey, hamburgers, chicken nuggets, soups and pasta with meat sauce.

You love to have fun, mostly with me :) You like to empty any drawer and you are pretty much a one-man (boy) wrecking crew. You can turn a room upside down in a matter of seconds (which is a skill I also have, actually!) so mom is learning how to "let go" of having the tidiest house.

You LOVE to babble....its crazy! Your words are dada, mama, sissy and dog dog. But you talk and babble nonsensical things ALL DAY LONG. Everyone thinks its so cute!

You are a good napper...you take two good long ones each day. Bedtime is at 7pm and you awake around 7am. Sometimes you sleep through, but often you want to wake up for a bottle. Mommy feels guilty because you are so skinny so she always gives in. Every morning you wake up, come downstairs, and tackle me and give me a big kiss. Mom and dad almost die from happiness when they see it!

Its hard to believe its been over a MONTH since I've posted! I've been super busy... end of summer, back to school, and mommy and daddy went away to Italy for a week. Add to that a couple different sicknesses between me and brother, and time has flown. But what's the biggest news? Luke turned ONE!

I'm sorry I've been so bad at blogging lately.... It's just that summer has been so busy! Lots of time at the pool and parks...plus mommy working hard at her new job and trying to run around after her two maniacs... Leaves little time for blogging. I promise I'll try to stay on her to keep up.

So Luke turned 11 months old yesterday.... Hard to believe that in one month, he will be ONE! Time flies when you're having fun!

What's little brother been up to lately??
- Cruising furniture
- Standing up all on his own
- Eating tons and tons of "big kid food" (although he is a meat and potatoes guy like daddy...not so much fruits and veggies)
- Knows how to drink out of sippy cups, water bottles, straws, CamelBaks, whatever!
- Says "dada", "baba", "nana" and tries his best to imitate "danger" and "sissy" (No - still NO mama!)
- Is overall VERY good natured but will not hesitate to unleash a NASTY high-pitched scream if things don't go his way

I love Luke as much as ever and spent about 10 minutes last night arguing with momma that when I get older, I'm going to marry him. Mom says I'll fall in love with a different prince charming, but I told her over and over "NO mama! I'm going to marry Luke"

Mountain Fun

We had a fabulous Fourth of July weekend. First I went with mama and Mimi up to Boulder to visit Great-grandma Shirley. It was fun to have a girls day and I behaved and did quite well. When we got home, mom and dad made a last-minute decision to head up to the mountains for the long weekend. We packed the car, loaded up and were gone within the hour....and were up at Aunt Cindy's condo within 90 minutes. So fun!

I had so much fun in the mountains. Our family went on a hike, spent the day at Keystone, I got to ride a gondola, we ate lunch on top of a mountain, went to the 4th of July parade in Breckenridge....and I did something SOO fun and brave it deserves its own post. For now, I'll give you some picture highlights. Unfortunately, mama's camera stopped working early in the weekend so most of her pictures were on her blackberry or ipod...

By the end of the hike, poor Luke had fallen asleep. He slept all the way home AND for another two hours once we got home. Fresh air does wonders!

TEN

I'm a bad sister.... Luke turned 10 months old on July 1st and I've just been too busy to blog about it. But I can't let TOO much time pass, or else I'll forget all the cool things he's been doing.

At 10 months, Luke, you:

- Fully crawl (not army style anymore)
- Pull up on anything and everything, including flat surfaces (wall, fridge, etc)
- Cruise on furniture
- Go up stairs
- Sit up (from laying down position) all by yourself
- Are almost done with baby food...you like table food
- Say "dada" and "nananana" all the time... but much to my dismay, no "sissy" or "mama"
- Shake your head "no", and also shake in the air any object when we ask you to "shake it!"
- Like to take my toys, and tend to hang on for dear life. I'm now starting to get mad when you take things and I tattle on you!

Even though you are starting to get on my nerves at times when you touch the IPad or take a toy from me, we are still the light of each other's worlds, brother. I love LOVE to play with you and I just know we are always gonna be best friends, bro! (mama thinks its funny I call you that already!)

Happy birthday, buddy! Soon you'll be a year old! Such a big boy :)

Sporting KC

The other big highlight of our trip to KC, which deserves its own blog post, was the chance for me and Luke to attending our very first Major League Soccer event. Mommy keeps in touch with a good friend from her days working for the MLS in Dallas, so her friend got us these AWESOME tickets to see Sporting KC play in their brand new (just 2 weeks old) stadium! We got to sit right at the midpoint of the field only 6 rows up, so it was VERY cool. (note that I had to represent my girly side, insisting on wearing a princess dress to the game, much to momma's dismay!)

When we first walked in, the field and game transfixed me and Luke. At least I turned around for a second to take a picture. Luke...not so much!
The good news: within minutes of sitting in our seats, Sporting KC scored TWO goals! The bad news: the very loud burst of noise from the crowd on both occasions scared the daylights out of me and had my hysterically crying. After awhile, though, momma learned to tell me to "hold my ears" whenever it looked like KC might score. That, combined with blue Gatorade and a big tub of popcorn from Grandpa Bill, was the key to success. I LOVED the game, had fun watching the ball go so high in the air, and also was quite interested in the players when they fell down and got hurt. Luke, bless his heart, was a perfect angel and watched the game with interest.

We ended up staying until the end of the game! I was sad to leave and exclaimed several times "I LOVE this place!" We finally loaded back in the car at 10pm (!!) and Luke and I both promptly fell asleep on the car ride home.

Kansas City

We just got back from an awesome weekend visiting Grandpa Bill and Grandma Kay in Kansas City. I was thrilled to fly on an airplane again, and momma and daddy were thrilled because the flight is just a quick hour over to KC - very manageable! Daddy actually had a golfing weekend with his buddies from college, so momma, me and brother all hung out at Grandma and Grandpa's for the weekend.

The trip started out like this...a quick cat nap on the way to the airport for me:

Doesn't look very comfortable, does it? No worries...I slept just fine.

We had lots of fun attending a "concert in the park" event near Grandpa's house... complete with lots of time on the tire swing (a new discovery for me) and even a facepainter!

Other highlights included my first time eating at Winsteads (yummy!), seeing my step-cousins Audrey, Simone and Penelope, and playing (new toys = hours of entertainment for me!) and bonding non-stop with Grandma and Grandpa. Me and brother were really, really good all weekend - which momma was thankful for.

Overall, it was a great weekend. Luke approves :)

I've been giving momma and daddy quite the hard time about t-ball. It started with me getting (literally) sick to my stomach in the middle of my first practice, and has steadily gone downhill since. Mommy and daddy are sure that one day they will look back and laugh, but for now they aren't enjoying having to coax and cajole me almost every step of the way during practice and games. T-ball will probably end up being a one-season experiment, but at least its fun playing on a team. And yes, I do have SOME good moments...I like it when everyone cheers when I hit the ball, run the bases, or throw a ball to first base. But bottom line... I'm just ready for soccer and gymnastics to start back up soon!

Chi-Town

I've been a bad child blogger... But I have a good excuse! Our family has been busy this month, with some/all of our family of four going out of town every single weekend in the month of June. I'll start with our trip to Chicago. We went to Nana's house for a long weekend in order for mommy to help throw a bridal shower for my soon-to-be Aunt Jessie. The travel to and from Chicago was pretty uneventful except for a small hiccup - immediately after passing through security in Denver, Luke threw up the ENTIRE contents of his stomach (and more, it seemed!) in the stroller. He was in need of a total outfit change - thank goodness momma came prepared. She was nervous it might happen again on his last clean outfit, but Luke was a good boy and did fine the rest of the trip.

Highlights of the trip:
- Sleeping in my own bedroom and big girl bed (believe it or not, last time I was at Nana's house in Chicago, I was still sleeping in a crib!)
- Visiting a few old friends and neighbors
- Seeing my Aunt Laura, Uncle Matt and cousins Anna and Elsie
- Nature walks and tractor rides on the property
- Going "frogging" on the lake - and actually catching one!

Despite rainy weather most of the weekend, I had lots of fun exploring Nana and Papa's house and property - and I can't wait until my next visit to Chicago!

Last week I had my last day of preschool for the year. BOY I had a great year at Cherry Hills - - I loved loved my teachers and my classmates, and mommy and daddy saw so many great changes in me! But the year had to end with a party, so here's some pictures of the fun!

Take Me out to the Ballgame

Mom signed me up for t-ball this year. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. Thankfully, I do have one other girlfriend on my team. The rest are boys, but I know them all so that works out well. The bad news is I'm not too fond of my jersey. I declared it too "boy-like" and have thus far refused to wear it at practice. Mommy is praying for a different outcome for gametime.

So far I like t-ball just fine, but I'm wondering if maybe mommy and daddy signed me up so they'd have an excuse to hang with all of their parent friends and drink beers while we practice. Sneaky parents.

9 Months

Happy 9-month birthday, little buddy!! It seems like just yesterday that you were born, but time flies when you're having fun, and we've had a LOT of fun together, brother!

First, your stats. You weigh in at 17lbs 7oz which is the 15%, and you are in tall which is the 60%. (By the way, I was 16lb 6oz - 12% and 28in - 60% when I was 9 months old). Amazingly enough, we are almost exactly the same! Long and lean, baby! You had fun at your dr appointment but you were very tuckered out by the time we got in the car to head home. By the way, do you like your sissy's photography skills?

Lots new going on with you this month. You are "crawling" everywhere (EVERYWHERE) even though its more of an army-crawl. You do get up and rock back and forth on your hands and knees, but that army crawl suits you just fine so you seem to be sticking with that. Your other big development is you are pulling up, by yourself, on EVERYTHING! It started with the crib...then your bin of toys, then on momma, now on the stairs and ottoman in our family room. Mom is quite nervous. Really buddy - you don't have to be so active so soon!

You also got your first two upper teeth this month...now you can REALLY bite down! Not coincidentally, mommy has weaned you off of breastfeeding so you are now totally bottle fed.

You normally nap 9-11 in the morning (sometimes more, sometimes less) and 1:30 - 3 in the afternoon. Bedtime is around 7:30 and you wake up at 5 for a bottle and then sleep until 7. OR you wake up more like 6:15 and then you are up for the day. Either way is fine with mommy...she just has to get used to being more of an early riser.

You are still quite happy, Luke. You are content to be dragged all over town to my classes and activities. There isn't much that makes you mad. You are used to being knocked over, poked and prodded by me and you seem to take it all in stride. You light up when you see me and mommy every day, and you really have bonded alot with Daddy this month as well. You love to sit up on his shoulders and can stay there forever!

You say lots of funny things... dadadada, yayayaya, goo goo. You like to eat finger foods too. You'll grab anything in sight and shove it in your mouth.

Hard to believe that you are getting so old, Luke! I'm looking forward to a great summer with you, brother!

Sorry I've been lazy about blogging. Momma just took a new part-time job and what little "down time" she had is now totally gobbled up, so its been hard for me to get her to sit down and help me blog.

Anyway, life has continued to zip along at mock speed here in our house. I'm still as busy as ever, LOVING preschool and all my fun activities. I'm about to take a break from my gymnastics class and do some soccer and t-ball for the summer. Should be fun! I'm also taking swimming lessons at our new gym and can now swim legitimately ON MY OWN for the first time ever - I can even come up and breathe on my own before continuing on. Momma is proud and she'll get a video soon.

Luke turned 8 months old last week. Not much new to report with him. Still happy, still smiley, still crawling ALL OVER the place, and still just totally obsessed with his big sister. (and I feel the same way about him!). He did just get his 3rd tooth, a top one this time, but he hasn't been too fussy so that's great.

Mothers Day weekend was so much fun. Saturday we went up to Boulder to see my great-grandma Shirley and her new apartment. Then we went to a mini-family reunion with all the extended family at Uncle John and Aunt Amy's house. I was such a good girl and had SUCH fun playing to my hearts content outside. They have a big big yard and horses nearby...lots to see and do...flowers to pick, bocce ball, and it was 80 degrees and sunny outside so I enjoyed every minute! My family sure is fun!

Sunday we took momma to breakfast and then daddy sent her for a hot-stone massage, whatever that is. She loved it, though! After she got home, we all went to the park together and I got to run around in the fountains enjoying an 85 degree May day. I had a blast and of course met a friend twice my age, who I promptly started to boss around and she complied. I have a way with people.

Not many pictures on Mothers Day, since daddy has to be the photographer and he's just not that into that role, but we did get a couple.

I promise I'll whip mom into shape about blogging more.

Happy Easter everybody! We had a busy and fun weekend.

Luke was dedicated on Saturday. We had a small ceremony at Nana and Papa's house with some family and close friends. The weather didn't cooperate so we were stuck inside instead of out on the back lawn with the mountains behind us, but luckily everything else went perfectly. Mr. Tim and Ms. Anne performed the dedication and Luke was such a good baby throughout. We prayed for Luke and thanked God that Luke is in our family now, and we all had to promise to love and support Luke his whole life and help him grow in love for Jesus. It was really cool. Mommy tells me they did the same thing for me but I don't really remember it.

And Easter...what a special time in our house! I loved learning about the true meaning of Easter this year in preschool, and delighted in telling mommy and daddy about Jesus's death and resurrection - they were quite impressed. I sang the song "Hosanna in the Highest" all weekend...I even told mommy "I just can't get Hosanna out of my head!" Luke and I got to go with mommy and daddy to their church (no Sunday school!) but I found it quite boring and was disappointed that I didn't know the words to the songs. I sing a TON of songs in preschool but none of them were at church yesterday...bummer.

But it was a great weekend...we had lots of fun and it was a special time for all of us!

Seven Months

Well, I'm almost two weeks late doing this post, but I'm a very very busy girl and just haven't had the time to update you on what Luke is up to at 7 months.

First of all, he is alot like me in that he's turning into a tall, skinny little baby. Momma is trying to fatten him up but he's a bit of a picky eater (oh, the faces he makes when presented with green vegetables!).

Probably the biggest thing about 7 months is that Luke is sitting AND crawling. Yes, that's right...he crawls! Its an army crawl but he certainly gets his little body across any room to get right to what he wants. Now I have to be MUCH more careful with all of my beads, coins and small toys because momma warns me constantly that Luke might eat them.

Little buddy is sleeping better, but isn't quite making it through the night on a consistent basis. He is usually up for a snack right around 4:30 or 5am, and momma is getting ready to let him "cry it out" but she's a little nervous because he is such a skinny minnie. I think she feels guilty withholding ANY food from him. Occasionally he will sleep all the way through the night, but its probably only once a week. But his naptimes are much better, I'm glad to report. He usually naps for 2 hours every morning and about 1.5 hours in the afternoon while I nap. Momma is glad to have an hour of peace and quiet in her day.

Other than that, things are status quo! Luke is my best buddy...he is so happy, smiley and giggles at me and my antics. Momma tells me that 7 months is a great age, and I agree. Luke loves to play by himself on the floor, in his exersaucer, and seems endlessly entertained by anything that I do! I continue to amaze mom and dad with what an amazing big sister I am. With my personality, I can be "persnickety" at times, as momma says, but in terms of being a big sister? She says I've been 100% PERFECT for 7 months now. I comply with what momma needs when she's feeding Luke, I watch over him when momma has to run upstairs, I help change his diapers, feed his bottles, and a give him about a million kisses a day. I'm already asking mommy if she can have another baby...but she tells me that's for a different post.

I took a little break from blogging because last week we took a little family vacation to Palm Springs, California. We had the BEST trip! The sun was out and it was about 85 degrees the whole time...I loved swimming every day. Despite my many many times on an airplane, this time I was just so excited about every little part of travelling. I was a PERFECT girl both ways travelling and gave mommy lots of extra help as she had to go through security and board the airplane by herself with two kids, all our bags, a carseat and a stroller.

Luckily Luke is just as good at travelling as I was when I was a baby. He slept takeoff to touchdown both ways. What a good boy!

I really enjoyed my time in the water, as always. My new tricks were "diving" in the pool (arms in a "v" over my head, head-first off the top step and swimming underwater for about 5-6 feet) and picking up dive sticks in deeper water by doing a "torpedo" to get to the bottom.

Luke had his first experience in the pool. For the first couple seconds he wasn't too sure, but he soon grew to LOVE it!

My other favorite activities were running down the baranka with daddy and picking grapefruits off the grapefruit tree. Luke had a great time too, despite a quick little bout with croup while we were there. He perked up a few days into the trip and there was no looking back! Needless to say, I didn't want to go home and have already asked momma when we can go back to California. I guess I have to wait all the way until next year, but its worth the wait!

Oh, and the trip's biggest bummer? Mom had our camera in her lap sitting by the pool, and she stood up and it fell in. Ouch. Needless to say, we borrowed Mimi's camera for the remainder of the trip because ours went to heaven.

Six Months

Buddy...you turned 6 months old yesterday! You're getting to be such a big boy!!
Now first your stats:

Momma thought those numbers sounded familiar, so tonight she looked through my old doctors notes and sure enough, I was 30% weight, 75% height and 70% head when I was six months old. Wow we are almost like the same baby!! Looks like you'll be long and lean, just like me :)

Anyway, you were so tuckered out from your doctor appointment that you looked like this by the time mom got you home.

You are so much fun, Luke. Of course, its easy to say this because I am absolutely your favorite person ever. Morning, noon and night you grin and laugh at me and my crazy antics. Momma swears I am quite possibly the best big sister ever...CONSTANTLY interested in you, helping in any way possible, and even changing diapers all by myself (under momma's watchful eye, of course!) We have a special relationship already, and I tell momma almost daily that when you grow up, you're gonna marry me.

Your temperament has mellowed out a bit and you are usually quite good-natured and easy to be around. You are generous with your smiles and enjoy any type of bouncing, rhyming or game. You are starting to outgrow (in interest) your swing and much prefer rolling around on your little activity mat or hanging out in the excersaucer, which provides you much entertainment. You still are quite a momma's boy and like her to hold and carry you, but you're pretty cool at hanging by yourself too.

You are rolling, rolling, rolling. Momma says we have to put away my beads and legos soon or Luke will eat them. Speaking of eating, you are just starting to eat baby food...sometimes you are more interested than others. So far you've just had rice cereal and bananas. More discoveries to come!

You sleep about 6:30pm - 6:30am. You get up once to eat anytime between 3 and 5:30. Enjoy it while it lasts, because next month I heard momma say she's gonna let you start to "cry it out", whatever that means. But being up once for about 10 minutes isn't all that terrible on mom, so she's letting it slide for now. You are quite the catnapper, which is perhaps momma's only complaint. You don't like to sleep for more than an hour. We're working on it. I'm trying to instill my sleeping mojo on you, brother.

It feels like just yesterday that you came home from the hospital, brother. I love you so much and enjoy every single MINUTE with you. Happy 6-month birthday!

Well I went to my four year doctor visit last week and have some good stats to report. I thoroughly enjoyed my appointment and was so happy not to have any shots! And I am happy to report that I continue to be a big, strong, healthy girl! I weighed in at 38.5 lbs (75%) and am a whopping 42 inches tall, which puts me at the 95% for kids my age. The doctor joked that I'm going to be taller than mommy soon, but momma didn't think that was too funny! But she and daddy are very grateful that God made me so wonderful and healthy! Now, if i can just avoid the doctor until 5 year visit...THAT would be the best!

Well Lauren, since its your special day I'll give you a break from blogging and take care of this post myself. After everyone telling us that you look like you are four all year long, finally you are four years old! Sometime last summer you became very interested in when your next birthday would be, and for the past 6 months you've been borderline obsessed with when it would be your turn to have a birthday...well girl, you got your wish!

At four years old, you are highly engaging and energetic...SO loving and caring, with a very strong independent streak. Strong willed you are... passionate...opinionated... but you are at heart a people pleaser and you are SO helpful around the house and with your brother especially. You LOVE to have fun and be silly...wrestling with daddy, dance parties and crazy songs abound. You love to be included in anything...if we ask you to help with chores, or cooking, you're response is always a cheery "sure!" You have a tender heart and you usually apologize after your bouts with sassiness. And sassy you are! The past 6 months we've begun to see your little 'tude shine through, whether it be eye rolling or crossing your arms and huffing away. You've even told me a few times "Mommy, you're not NICE to me! I'm never going to marry you EVER AGAIN!" Ohhh me and daddy will have a long road ahead of us in the teenage years, won't we?!

You have so many friends and love to be around other kids. You often take on the role of the leader but if there are older girls around, you will submit to ANYTHING they want you to do! You have a great circle of friends and you give most of them your own special pet names, which is cute. You have even been known to schedule playdates with other kids without even telling mom! Yikes!

You are a sweet sweet child. You already love God (which is our greatest dream for you) and are so sweet in your nightly prayers...always thanking God for your mommy and daddy and brother..and then various combinations of grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends. We love to see your caring side shine through!

If there's one thing about you we can always count on, you ALWAYS provide us "Lauren stories" to share with family and friends of all the insanely mature things that come out of your mouth. Your verbal skills have always been strong, but this year especially you come out with some "zingers"! Daddy and I must be extra careful what we say in your presence (even if we don't think you're listening), because it almost always gets repeated!

We can't wait to see how you will grow and change in your fourth year. You are the absolute JOY of our lives, Lauren. We couldn't love you any more than we do... Praise be to God for blessing us with precious, sweet, loving, rambunctious YOU. We will never stop thanking Him!

Luke, you are 5 months old now! Time has flown by so quickly since you were born! The biggest news at 5 months old is that on your exact birthday you broke your first tooth! I broke my first tooth at almost 8 months old, so you beat me by a mile! I'm so proud of you, brother :) You have a very happy disposition and you are quite a strong little guy...you love to stand up on momma's lap and you are starting to roll both ways (you went tummy to back first). You usually sleep about 6:30pm to 4 or 5 am, then you are up for a quick snack and then back to bed. You like to coo and yelp out to hear your own voice. You also love to "eat" our faces...big big open mouth kisses! You ADORE me and momma and daddy...you light up every time you see us! Happy birthday Luker!

I change outfits probably 5 times a day. I get myself dressed in the morning, change mid-morning, after naptime, and before dinner. Mom is getting really sick of doing the laundry that results from my shenanigans and having a baby in the house, so my new rule is that I can only switch out one item of clothing per day. Sorry its been awhile since my last post. Everyone in our house has been so sick! I started it off with a fever for 48 hours...then momma got the stomach flu...then she gave it to daddy...then Luke got really sick with broncholitis and an ear infection last week. He hasn't been sleeping much due to his discomfort, so therefore neither has mommy...and so then SHE got sick again. Yuck!

I promise I'll update more once we are feeling a bit better. Everytime I ask mommy if I can sit on her computer and blog, she says she doesn't feel well enough to help me. Hopefully in a few days she'll let me get back on here. But don't worry..you're not missing much. My life lately has consisted of a LOT of down time at home. Momma hasn't really let us leave the house in a long while.

4 Months

Lukie, you are now 4 months old. You don't know this, but mommy found out she was pregnant with you on New Years Eve 2009, so it was fun for mom and dad to re-live those emotions a few days ago with you now being 4 months old! None of us can remember life before you came in it, brother!

So first - your statistics. You tipped the scales at 14lbs 14oz (60%), 25 3/4in long (75%) and your head is in the 50th percentile. We think you are a perfect little (big) guy!

Luke, you still don't love the car but we are starting to see improvement. Sometimes mommy even finds this now when she opens the back door - not bad, brother!
I think this picture of you is so funny...taken at Thanksgiving of you sitting in pa's lap. That can't be that comfortable!
You found your thumb awhile ago, but especially in the car you still prefer your paci's.
You have started to really enjoy being in the swing and you are now reaching for toys and bringing EVERYTHING straight to your mouth.

You are so enthralled with me :) Almost anything I do gets a big smile out of you... and at the very least I am the center of your attention anytime I am around you!
Momma just liked this picture from one time you fell asleep on her after nursing. That's going well by the way.... you nurse most of the time but take a bottle right before bed that has a mix of formula and breastmilk in it...you seem to do just fine with it!
You met your Uncle John and Aunt Quyen this month, who flew in from New York City to meet you and hang out during the holidays.
You are a big sports fan. Literally! You love watching basketball and football...you are riveted to the TV whenever sports are on. Daddy thinks this is a good sign of future bonding to come. Your favorite teams are the Chicago Bears and the Kansas Jayhawks. You are being raised right.

You like being a big boy...love to stand stand stand. And the Bumbo is popular as well!
Sleeping...you are a good sleeper, buddy! Most nights you sleep from about 7pm - 5am. You get up at 5 for a quick snack and then you go right back down for a couple more hours. Can't complain about that! You are getting to be a more consistent napper, which makes momma happy. You are awake in about 2-hour spurts and your naps can be as short as 30 minutes or as long as 3 hours. It just depends on the day!
You like sitting with momma looking at the computer. Cutie pie.
What do we have here? Oh yes - your hands! You discovered your hands and feet this past month and its been adorable to see you checking them out. Momma tells me I did the same thing when I was a baby :)
Luke...you are SO loved and adored by everyone...especially by ME! You are my greatest joy and I spend a LOT of my day trying to kiss you, hold you, entertain you and tell you about all the things I'm going to teach you as you get older. You really do complete our family! Happy 4 months, brother!

Christmas Morning

Like most kids, I was up bright (well, it was dark outside technically) and early to see if Santa had visited our house. Luke was still sleeping and momma and daddy really enjoyed experiencing Christmas morning with just the 3 of us...and of course I never argue with all the attention being on me. I tore through the gift opening, many times exclaiming "yes, yes, YES!!" as I was opening my gifts. Mom and dad thought it was pretty cute!

Most importantly, the verdict with Santa was that I was a good girl this year, because I got what I wished for... my very own dollhouse!

I had an amazing Christmas this year! First of all, we have baby Luke as our best gift ever, and it was so fun sharing Christmas with him. But mostly this Christmas was special for mom and dad because I was SO into everything Christmas. Jesus' birth...Christmas carols...Christmas movies...Santa... I delighted in EVERYTHING and that gave such joy to mom and dad!

Christmas eve started off with a big party at my Mimi's house with momma's side of the family. I had a blast and spent most of the evening playing on the floor with cousin Ryder, whose favorite activity is pushing a ball around and crawling after it. I love playing with Ryder and all the adults were quite pleased at how sweet I was to my cousin.

Luke, on the other hand, pretty much just got passed around from person to person, gnawing on various knuckles and generally just being adorable.

Well, yesterday we had our Christmas party at school. I've been very excited about it and have been telling mommy for a long time that I can't wait to sing her all my songs, but she wasn't so sure. (Remember last year? It didn't go so well).

Santa sure must like Denver, because I've now seen him twice here!! (It must be the weather... did I mention I played at the park yesterday in a short sleeve shirt because it was about 68 degrees and sunny here? Denver in December is great!)

Our local ACE Hardware, of all places, had a fun event where I got to go paint an ornament and spend some time with Santa. I loved every minute of sitting on his lap and telling him what I want for Christmas (a dollhouse, by the way). He told me he'd do his best but he was making no promises. Hopefully I'll be a good enough girl that he grants my wish. So far I've been great!

Oh, and Lukie got to meet Santa too. He didn't say much though. He's just pretty into looking at his own hands and feet lately.
