Standing Tall

Well, I did it! I'm now officially standing all by myself. I find it REALLY fun and do it all the time. When I'm not standing, I'm now working on my bearcrawl. See both in the video below.

PS - I KNOW I have a lot of toys. When mommy saw the video she said that perhaps there is too much stimulation! I've told her repeatedly that there is no such thing for a busy one-year-old.

Mommy just got a bunch of pictures uploaded from my birthday party. Click here to see them.

You can also see pictures of the month before my birthday - new link is to the right.

Stylin

My nana bought me this swimsuit when I was just a baby, but I'm just now fitting into it. I thought I'd show it off online since I look so darned cute. Plus, I'm young enough not to be self-conscious being photographed in a swimsuit. Does this suit make my butt look big? Just kiddin!

New Stats

I had my belated 1-year checkup today, and have some good news to share! The doctor thinks I am just perfect (yes!) and developing exactly as I should be. I am now 20lbs 4oz (30%) and 30 inches long (75%). We all did a cheer that I gained some weight, because I used to be in the 15%, but the happiness was shortlived because I had to get vaccinations. Ouch.

What a Week!

Well, hot on the heels of my awesome first birthday party, mommy, daddy and I all headed to Chicago to see Nana and Papa. It was a really fast trip, but it was still fun. Mommy and Nana hosted two bridal showers for Aunt Sonya this weekend (on Saturday and Sunday) so they were workaholics. But I had fun being entertained by my uncles and Papa J - I even got to participate in my first game of poker with the boys! Pretty cool. I'm already working on a good "poker face."

Also, Aunt Laura and my cousin Anna came to visit for a couple hours in the midst of the madness. Anna is so cute and is growing fast. I liked hanging with her, but she still doesn't sit yet so our interactions were a bit limited. I showed her some tricks, though, so soon she'll be surprising her parents with what I've taught her. She tried to show me how to get both fingers up my nose at once (see picture). Luckily, I didn't catch on.

I'll have lots more updates in the coming days...so keep checking in!

The Big ONE

Well one year ago today, I was born. So mommy and daddy decided to celebrate by having about 35 family and friends over for a big party to celebrate. It was so much fun - all my grandparents were in town, as well as my aunts and uncles (its no small task to get them all in the same place at the same time)! Plus many friends and extended family came, too. Naturally, I loved the attention and had a blast. The best part was when everyone sang to me and I got to dig into my own special cake.

Thanks to everyone who came to my party, and also those who sent cards or gifts from afar. I felt really special today. I guess people are pretty happy that I'm here :)

Happy birthday to me...

Spunky

Continuing in my new tradition of climbing into everything, I've now mastered climbing into mommy's laundry basket while she tries to do all of her folding. This particular time (pictured above) mommy turned her back for all of 15 seconds and I got in without her even seeing. Boy was she surprised!

In other news... I've posted new pictures to the right of the last 3 months of my life. If you've got some extra time, take a look!

Chatterbug

I'm learning new words every day. So far, its been (in order of appearance):
Dada
Mama
Dog Dog
Heyyyy
Gone (as in "all gone")
Done
Ba-Ba (bottle)

Here's a video of my latest accomplishment. Mommy showed me this flashcard the other day and I immediately repeated it... I guess I catch on pretty quickly!

Believe it or not, I am actually working on saying the word "Corduroy". Sounds crazy, I know, but I even have several witnesses: I try to say it when mommy and daddy read me the book about him. Maybe you'll see it on video here soon - if mommy can catch me!
