Bummer

My favorite team, the Kansas Jayhawks, lost last night. But I'm not going to get too upset - I still am picking KU to get to the Final Four when the brackets come out!

Little Rascal

I've really been giving mommy and daddy a run for their money lately. Our TV at home sits in a built-in entertainment center, and mommy uses the bottom drawer to store toys. At the end of the day, she tosses everything in to keep the house looking clean, and during the day I can crawl up, open up the drawer, and pull out what I want to play with.

This afternoon mommy was folding laundry and daddy was in his office working. Imagine mommy's surprise when she looked up and saw that I had crawled INTO the drawer. Easier access to my toys, plus I'm then closer to the television. I'm quickly showing her there is NOTHING I won't try.

AHHHspen

This weekend mommy, daddy and I drove up to Aspen to visit Aunt Lisa and Uncle Andy. It was our first family road trip and we had lots and lots of fun. We went on a winter hike (thank goodness Aunt Lisa carried me up, since mommy and daddy were huffing and puffing the whole time), ate at some yummy restaurants, and even went to their cool church (I love singing at church). The best part was that Aunt Lisa and Uncle Andy have TWO doggies, so I got LOTS of practice following them around and, of course, yelling "dog dog dog dog". Aspen was lots of fun and we can't wait to visit again this summer.

(PS - My new "thing" when I get really excited is to throw out my hands and do a silent scream, usually turning the color of an eggplant. In the picture above, they caught me in the act!)

Cheesy Girl

Mommy made some homemade macaroni and cheese last week and I LOVED it. The best was when she let me feed myself. Let's just say I needed a bath afterward.

Fashion Smashion

Mommy has been pretty sick this week and didn't fall asleep until 2am last night, so this morning Daddy let her sleep in for an hour and got up with me. He also got me dressed for the day. Hmmm...

Pink/brown piggy shirt is actually part of a nightie/pj set I have...
Pink/white/green pants were stuffed in the back of my "pants" drawer
Pink socks had purple all over them (can't see in the pic)

As soon as mommy woke up, she gasped and quickly changed my clothes into something more suitable...but not before getting a picture of my outfit. You can tell how I feel about being photographed in something so unfashionable.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that daddy will have more fashion sense by the time I go to school!

Water Baby

Daddy took me swimming at our local rec center, which has an indoor water park. I love the water, and I can already tell that in the next few years I'm going to be LOVING the rec center!

Doggie

I love dogs. Even though we don't have one at our house, they seem to be everywhere else I go. I love to ride on them like a horsie...pet them...pull at them...anything! So it was a big treat this year when my Grandma Mary and Grandpa Dennis gave me my own doggie for Christmas this year. I LOVE my doggie, and I even practice saying "dog" all the time when I'm around him. Mommy took a video of it yesterday, and I thought I'd share it with you.

One More Month...

Yesterday was my 11 month birthday, which means that in just one more month, I'll reach my big First Birthday. Mommy and daddy are panicking...they think time is passing too quickly. I'm just having fun though, becoming a big girl!

International Friend

This weekend, two of mommy's best friends from college came to visit me (well, came to visit mommy, but I like to think that I was a big attraction). While Miss Ashley lives in Dallas and has visited me before when I lived in Chicago, Miss Courtney lives in England, so it was super fun for her to meet me for the first time while on "holiday" in the states. I wasn't quite myself during their visit - I might be teething and a tad grumpy - but it was so fun to have new people to play with.

Here's a picture of us - I was a little sad mommy wasn't in the picture with us, so she joined in and I perked up.

Fast Learner

It seems my learning skills have gone into overdrive this past couple months. I seem to surprise mommy and daddy with new skills every day! Many of them I practice in my crib, so they don't know what I'm up to.

Check out one of my new skills below.

Christmas and New Years and Flu, oh my!!

Wow - what a week it's been. Where do I start?

Well 2 days before Christmas, Daddy got in a really bad car accident and the car that I ride around in every day was totally ruined. Thankfully daddy only had minor bumps and bruises, but it was really scary and we said special prayers to Jesus to thank him for watching over daddy.

Then we celebrated Christmas with mommy's side of the family here in Colorado. I went to a big dinner and got to see over 30 of my nearest and dearest family members. It was really fun but I tuckered out and had to go sleep upstairs. The next day I opened presents at Grandma Mary's house.

Christmas Day we flew to Chicago to be with Nana and Papa and the Kubik clan. It started off GREAT (I enjoy being totally spoiled and showered with presents!), but took a bad turn when almost the entire family got the flu! Even I got sick (yuck!). So that wasn't the best ending to the trip, but I'm really thankful that Daddy and Nana took such good care of me because Mommy was too sick to.

Then we got back to Denver and last night we went to our neighbor's house for a New Years get together. It was tons of fun and I loved playing with my buddies Ashleigh and Ryder.

Overall it was a whirlwind: my first Christmas, first New Years, and first flu all in one week. Let's hope that 2008 starts off a bit more calmly!

Thanks to EVERYONE for all my awesome Christmas gifts. Mommy is having a hard time fitting all the new toys in my "corner" of the family room. I'm slowly taking over!

xoxo,
Lauren
