It's Official!

I'm a walker!

My favorite thing to do is walk with something in my hand (shoe, bib, etc). Last night after mommy got me undressed for bedtime, I showed off my skills for a little bit. She caught me in the act. I'm VERY proud of myself and so are mommy and daddy!

Clingy

Ever since last week, this is the look that I've been giving mommy every time she puts me down. Last week I was clingy because I was in a new place, and ever since we got off the plane (mommy thought she'd get some relief!) I've been clingy because I've been sick.

Good thing I'm not sick (or clingy) very often... as cute as it is, I think its beginning to wear on mommy. Its also a good thing I'm so talented at giving a pouty face - I usually end up in her arms again without begging too hard.

Not So Rosy

Well, the mystery of my high fever this past weekend was solved when my fever disappeared yesterday and was replaced by a rash all over my body. I have roseola - a virus - and as soon as mommy read up on it, the description matched my symptoms exactly (high fever w/ no other symptoms, followed by fever disappearing and a rash on the trunk, face, arms and legs).

So now I have to stay home until I get all better. I'm going a little stir crazy being inside all day, but mommy and daddy insist so we're all trying to cope. It doesn't help that its been sunny and almost 70 degrees outside!

Hopefully I'll be feeling MUCH better soon.

Hoppy Easter

Easter was a bit of a bummer this year. I was sick with a 102 degree fever all weekend and didn't feel like doing much of anything besides being held by mommy and daddy. Here is a picture of me on Saturday in my cute bunny outfit that my Uncle Jon gave me. It finally fits me. The best part is my rear end (not pictured), where there is a cute little bunny poof ball tail. Very cute. Too bad I was feeling so sick...I wouldn't take my thumb out of my mouth, even for a picture.

Early Easter

Before I left California yesterday, mommy dressed me up to take some Easter pictures over at great-grandma's country club. Being a one-year-old and all (and very interested in ANYTHING but sitting still), it wasn't exactly the "photo shoot" mommy had hoped for, but she still got some good ones.

I also took some pictures with cousin Anna. The picture above was taken about 5 seconds before I accidentally knocked her over (I was just trying to pat her chest, but I'm a little stronger than her - oops!) - - Let's just say that things rapidly went downhill from there, and our little pre-Easter experiment ended up with both of us in tears. Thankfully, our mommies knew to call it a day and we headed home.

Walk on By...

Since I've been in California, I've really perfected my walking. I think I'm now officially a toddler. Here's a few shots of me practicing.

Sadly, my time in California is over. Tomorrow we go home to Denver...and I'm SO excited to see daddy.

California Dreamin'

This week my mommy and I are in Palm Springs, California, visiting my great grandmother Shirley. Already I'm having tons of fun, and am finding that the grass out back is the perfect soft spot to practice my walking skills - nice soft landings when I plop down. I've already been walking up a storm, and mommy finally got some video of it, which she's going to try to post soon.

Mommy says its really fun I'm here at this age, because when SHE was my age, she toddled around on these very same blades of grass.

We've got a busy schedule the next few days: eating, naps, swimming, playing. I'll try to check in when I can!

Swinging Away

By far, my favorite thing to do with mommy is to go to the park and swing. We pretty much get to go almost every day, since its usually very warm here. Last week she took me when it was a bit chilly, right after it snowed that morning, but I still had so much fun. She got some great pictures of me, and I thought I'd share them. I really am good with the facial expressions, aren't I?

Friends

Mommy and daddy's friends Jay and Alison came to visit last week, and they brought their daughter Emery with them. I've hung out with Emery a few times, but last week we really bonded. Even though she's only 3 months old and can't play around like I can, it was so fun to give her hugs and kisses. Here we are saying goodbye.... I was pretty sad to see her go. But the good news is she's moving to Denver in a couple months, so then we'll see each other all the time.

First Haircut

Yesterday I had my first haircut. Okay, mommy had cut it before in my highchair, but that was a disaster so I'm not counting that. I went to a real salon and got it cut. Some tears at the end when they put in a ponytail, but overall I had lots of fun. (PS - My hair isn't that red...its just the lighting in the salon)

The Latest....

Okay so in addition to standing, here's what I've been up to lately:

I like emptying things (drawers, purses, wallets, bags - anything I can get into, I will empty!)

I can put my hands above my head for "Soooo Big!"

I can point to people's noses.

I learned how to slide down the stairs on my tummy.

And perhaps most importantly, I've taken 4 wobbly steps on about five occasions in the last couple days. So far, I've avoided doing it in front of mommy's camera so there's no evidence to show you yet. But I'm sure mommy will get it soon!

(PS - After mommy took this picture, she also determined that my jeans are too small, so they were promptly taken off and replaced with a bigger pair, and they are now in storage for a future sibling!)

Bag Lady

I may be growing fast, but I can still fit into my mommy's LL Bean bag.
