Today when mommy came to get me from my nap, I showed her how I've been putting my animals in time-out in my crib, plus a few other tricks I've been practicing when she hasn't been around.

This was part of the actual conversation that happened tonight while we were having dinner.
Mommy: Do you like your spaghetti, Lauren?
Me: Yes. It's deeee-licious. Want more vegetables, momma.
Mommy: Okay. So Lauren, which movie do you want to watch before you go to bed?
Me: Oh! Sound of Music, momma!!
Mommy: Sound of Music? We can do that.
Me: All RIGHT! Sounds good, momma.

I had my 2 year checkup this week, and it went great. The doctor was quite impressed with my verbal skills....apparently I've finally found something I'm advanced at!
I'm also growing like a weed! Everyone (even strangers) point out to mommy how tall I am, and this doctor visit really confirmed that! I'm 27 lbs (60%) and a whopping 36 inches (95%)!
If that old wives tale is true, that you're half your grown-up height by age 2, I'm going to be a 6 footer! But looking at my mom, I'm trusting nature will kick in at some point and slow me down.

Happy birthday to me! Today I turned two years old. Mommy and daddy weren't overly emotional about my big day, but when they tucked me into bed tonight they got teary thinking about holding me as a newborn just two years ago. I guess they think the time has flown by!
I got to have a super cool birthday party yesterday. As opposed to last year when I was a little overwhelmed by everything, this year I totally loved being the center of attention. I even sat in my big girl chair (thanks Nana and Papa!) and opened my own presents!
A few of the things I'm doing at 2:
*Singing the following songs all by myself: Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, Happy Birthday, my "Goodnight Song", Itsy Bitsy Spider
* Can sing my ABC's
* Counting to 15
* Jumping all the time from any height or just standing
* Polite little one: I always say please, thank you, and mostly say "no thanks" - and I often use the person's name before or after please/thanks
* Saying full sentences "I want some milk, daddy", "Help, mommy, I can't do it"
* Starting imaginative play, especially feeding and talking to my baby dolls

I had my first sleepover this weekend!!! Mommy packed up a bag for me, and off I went to Aunt Maggie and Uncle Andrew's house for the night. I had so much fun and was the perfect guest... played, ate a good dinner, took a fun bath, and went to bed without a peep. I woke up this morning singing my ABC's, and was in a great mood when I got back to my house this morning. SO much fun! I can't wait for my next sleepover!!

So one of my buddies in my playgroup has a birthday the same week as me, so our mommies hosted a little birthday get-together with our friends at a fun indoor play place called Little Monkey Business. Besides being totally fun and cool to play there, I got to hang with my friends AND we got to eat chocolate cupcakes for a mid-morning treat! (more on that later)
It was so much fun! Happy pre-birthday to me!
